Anna-Bettina, a former volunteer, got the chance to present the Mwanga Children´s Foundation and the WATOYO association to the Lions Club Landsberg am Lech in February 2020. Anna-Bettina talked about the experiences she made while she worked at Mwanga´s Children Foundation, about the culture and life in Arusha. The audience showed great interest end even sponsored the project with a generous donation, so that the rent of the Mwanga´s Children Foundation is secured until the end of 2020.
As part of their preparation for conformation, the young people of the parish of St. Gallus Kirchzarten supported WATOYO Tanzania e.V. with a welfare initiative. They invited people to coffee and cake and provided everyone interested with information about the work of the association on an open-for-business Sunday. They proudly handed a 200€ check over one week later. By this donation, the 65 kids of the Mwanga Children´s Foundation were able to take a trip to the Snake Park Arusha at Christmas.
A great project managed by our dear sponsor Annka. Together with her students in class 3b of the elementary and middle school Hirschaid in Bavaria, she organized a breakfast for Tanzania as part of the project “Learning through engagement”. The project´s objective was to combine the social engagement of pupils with technical learning in the classroom. It also promoted the cultural exchange of lifestyles and awareness of cultural differences. The children from both countries were able to get a glimpse of each other´s culture and lifestyles, and the children from Germany collected donations by selling their homemade snack treats with great commitment and enthusiasm. The entire proceeds were donated to the Mwanga Children´s Foundation of which new swings could be manufactured and sand toys bought.
At the Palm Sunday celebration of the Sankt Gallus community in Kirchzarten, Carla, as the first chairwoman of the association, was able to report about the association WATOYO Tanzania e.V. The topic was why now is the right time to realize your visions. I took the audience on our way to founding the association and why it is so important to invest in early childhood education in Tanzania.
High-school graduates of the St. Ursula schools in Freiburg used the open house day to sell sewn purses, made by women from Arusha. Additionally, they provided information about the work of WATOYO Tanzania e.V.. A small part of the donations was used by the graduates for their graduation ceremony, the majority went to the Mwanga Children´s Foundation and was used for the children´s excursion to Arusha National Park for Easter 2019.
Hanna Hummel, the owner of TeeundTasse in Kirchzarten, developed this great campaign: 10 cents per paper bag sold, go directly to WATOYO Tanzania e.V.. Our flyers are also available in the shop and the staff are happy to provide everyone who is interested with further information about our work.
The Studentenwerk Dresden´s day care center Campusnest collected underwear for the children in Samaritan Village Tanzania. We had pointed out that health promotion also includes wearing underwear, unfortunately there are far too few clothes donation. The children of the orphanage were thrilled when they saw the mass of underwear we brought along in October 2018.
